Full Version: Dns Resolve Problem In Redhat 8.0
Linuxhelp > Support > Technical Support
Just installed Redhat 8.0.
Can't get the net working. I can see IP addresses, but I cant resolve domain names. IE: works, but then when Paul's (the webmaster) code refreshes to, it claims it can't find it. I can ping IPs, but I can't ping or or or etc etc etc. Any help would be appreciated. Using Realtek NIC with a DHCP router config as My IP is, dynamically created though so it can change. I am here on my Windows 2000 Partition btw.
Due to lack of response I reinstalled. It now works.
In response to this, the file /etc/resolv.conf is where your system would store it's dns servers to use. Chances are, in your original installation, this file was not populated the wrong IP addresses for your dns nameservers, or none at all. If this problem pops up in the future, take a look at that file for more information.
