Full Version: Print Server And Printer Setup Help
Linuxhelp > Support > Technical Support
I am trying to setup my Minolta 2300DL through a Linksys PSUS4 which
is a USB wired print server. I have Suse 9.1 and have been pounding my head
for 2 weeks trying to set it through YAST2 and the konsole.
I first downloaded and installed the foo2zjs driver with no problem.
The drivers are located in /usr/local/sbin/foo2zjs/. I have tried to connect
the printer first directly to the computer through the USB port with not luck.
(YAST can not find any USB printer connected). I then decided to go ahead and
setup the linksys print server.
The linksys site provides documentation that I followed to set the
server up through the konsole. afterI edited the /etc/hosts file and ran arp
-s 00:0C:41:90:4A:B0 I then start tftp I then
get a timeout when trying to get CONFIG. So I decided to install it through
YAST2 asks what printer type, I choose "print directly to a Network
Printer" and then choose "Remote LPD Queue". I put as the host
name of the server and "L1" as the name of the remote queue. I tested the
remote LPD access and it went fine. Under "Queue name and spooler settings" I
put "minolta" as the "Name for printing" and "minolta2300dl" as the
description of the printer and
"file:/usr/local/sbin/foo2zjs/PPD/Minolta-magicolor_2300_DL.ppd" as the
location of the printer. I did not select "do local filtering", "print
formfeed between jobs", or "automatically propose mulitple queues". I did a
test print first on "Text text printing" and it seemed to work fine. When I
try to test print on "Test Graphical Printing without Photo" or with photo it
prints text (about 10 pages) of file location and formatting commands.
When I bring up YAST after saving the configuration and then load it
again I have the following:
Already installed printers and queues:
Raw queue: Filtering forwarding queue to L1 on LPD server
Configured as:
minolta [test] - ready.

Can somebody please help? I am a fast learner but still fairly new to Linux.
Thank you.
Is not anybode able to help me?
