Hello,

I'm using Slackware Linux 9.0 (with the included kernel 2.4.X). I love video editing, and I used to do it all the time with my Windows box, but now I'm fully linux. My problem is, Linux isn't recognizing my capture card. I've check all over the place, and this card is supposed to be compatible with Linux. I have an ATI TV Wonder PCI. Everytime I try to use xawtv, I get the error /dev/video0 not found... which is supposed to mean it isn't reading my card. How do I fix this?

try the command:

lsmod

and see if there is a:

bttv

listed.

Also run the command:

dmesg | less

and use the arrow keys to see if bttv is loaded and look for errors ...

If no bttv ... try the command:

modprobe bttv

see if that loads the module (use the lsmod command again).

If bttv loads, try to run xawtv again.
