Full Version: Will Not Recognize User/pass
Linuxhelp > Support > Technical Support

Just installed Red Hat Linux 8.0 on my laptop. did the proper partition stuff and remembered my username/password, but I can't access linux, it won't recognize my user/password.

Is there a way to by pass this or do I have to reinstall again? Thanks.

If it failed with your username and password, try logging in as root. username: root and the password is what you set during installation. Are you sure you set up a regular user during install? If so, after logging in as root, go into your console and type "passwd yourusername" and re-set the password.
Hey thanks a ton man, look forward to converting into the ultimate uber geek with Linux!!!

Alright, take it easy.
