Good day!

Somebody please help me how to change the permission of read only file.
I want to edit a config file but it is read only file. An instruction to goes like this:

1. customize the squid.conf configuration file:
% vi /usr/local/squid/etc/squid.conf

my problem is, i cannot modify that squid.conf....

please help me. i'm a new user to linux....
step by step instruction please...

you must be logged in as root to modify the /etc/squid/squid.conf file
