Full Version: 2.6.6 Giving Me Problems
Linuxhelp > Support > Technical Support
Last night I upgraded my slackware install from 2.4.22 to 2.6.6

Everything seemed to go well, except that internet no longer works (ifconfig doesn't show eth0).

Apparently I'm supposed to look in my 2.4.22 config file, to see what I'm missing. Where is this file? (ls -R /usr/src/linux-2.4.22/*.conf doesn't come up with anything).

I'm not sure what kind of Ethernet card (I honestly forget. XP), but I Think it might be a linksys or dlink NIC.

Any help would be appreciated! smile.gif
cat /usr/src/linux-2.4.22/.config

That's, if you didn't remove this file.

Many config options were moved around in 2.6.x. You have to compile your network module.

Also, I don't think your 2.4.x setup will work for 2.6.x. I'm referring to modules config.
Thanks. smile.gif

I don't plan on copying the 2.4 config over the 2.6 config, or anything like that.

I'm just trying to find what module I need to install for 2.6.6

Is there an easier way to do this, do you know?

I'll mess around with it alittle, and if it's too much of a hassle, I'll just use the onboard ethernet controller. biggrin.gif
