Hi,i have aa Lite-on 48x cdrw drive and i am using Suse 9 pro with the following spec on my pc:
Celeron 1.7 cpu
512mb KIngston pc2100 ddr ram
40gb seagate hd
Geforce fx5200 video card
Q-Tec sound card

When i try to burn a cd using any blank cd(usually phillips 800mb ) i can only burn at 1x or 2x,i have checked all settings( using k3b)but to no avail-can anyone suggest why this is so?
Open up your console window, and as root, issue the following command:

cdrecord -scanbus

Ensure that your CDRW is in the list (probably listed as device 0,0,0). If it's there, grab yourself an iso image to test with (or make one in k3b). And using the command line, try to burn it:

cdrecord -v dev=0,0,0 speed=16 test.iso

Change the speed to whatever your max speed is, and your dev= to whatever is listed in the -scanbus.

Before the actually burning stage, cdrecord will show a bunch of info about the burner and cd to give you an idea on what's supported.
