right I am brand new to Linux so please be nice
I managed to install Redhat 7.2 no prob, but i started ot struggle when it loaded ofr the first time and i get the fallowing message:
RedHat Linux release 7.2 (Enigma)
Kernel 2.49-7 on a i686
Login.....
Password
ect
i managed to login using my "dan" username but it then came up with
[dan@localhostdan]$
and at this point i did not know what to do
could some one please tell me how ot get past this stage

Ahhh, and suddenly the memories of my first linux experience is flooding back to me. I remember logging in as this mysterious user "root" and thinking... "okay, now what the hell do I do?".
Well dan, during the installation, it should have installed X for you, if this is the case, then you, my friend, can just type in "startx" at that [dan@localhostdan]$ and that should start up x for you. From there, it's all point and click. If you get an error like "bash: Command Not Found" then you do not have X installed, and instead of going through step-by-step on how to install it from the command line, I would suggest going through the installation again and installing X.
