Full Version: Help With Fedora Core 1 And A Video Player
Linuxhelp > Support > Technical Support
are there any video players that come when you first install this...and i tried to install a few and i keep getting errors that im missing all these different do i get it to just install...and where is a good place to download this stuff
I would use apt. Download the first file listed in the Fedora Core 1 link on the link .... like this:

rpm -Uvh filename
edit the file /etc/apt/sources.list and make it say this:

# Fedora Linux 1
rpm fedora/linux/1/i386 core updates freshrpms

### Dag Apt Repository for Red Hat Fedora Core 1 (rhfc1)
rpm redhat/fc1/en/i386 dag
rpm redhat/en/i386/fc1 newrpms

rpm fedora/1/en/i386 at-testing at-bleeding at-good at-stable

Now to upgrade your system, do this:

apt-get update
apt-get dist-upgrade

(that will upgrade all your packages to the newest versions .... it can take a signifgant amount of time, but it will allow you then to easily install packages and have all the dependancies resolve automatically).

Now you can either install the following media players:

apt-get install mplayer xmms gstreamer

Or install synaptic ... a gui package manager with:

apt-get install synaptic

Then run synaptic as root and install updated packages via the GUI....
xine, mplayer are very good players for can download them from following sites..
