I'm trying to move along with networking my RedHat 7.0 box and my XP box. Everything was going sorta OK until I came to the part that said "start up your package tool and install it." What is a package tool, and how do I start it up?

One other little glitch was when they told me to check the users gid. I'm the only user, and it looked like my gid is the same as my user ID, if I interpreted what I was looking at correctly. Does that sound right?

Thanks,

Wayne

Hi,

Click on the "Red Hat" Icon at the botom left corner of your screen

System Settings ---> Add / Remove Applications

Also, from the command line, if you have an RPM file, you can do:

rpm -Uvh filename

(which I actually recommend because once updates are installed, the Redhat package tools become hoplessly confused)
