Linuxhelp > Support > Technical Support
When i use up2date and i update the kernel, on the grub menu it has my windowsxp and then it has 2 versions of fedora core linux, the old version of the kernel i have and then it has the new version, am i updating this wrong, or I'm not sure...
That's what it's supposed to do. You now have the option of booting to either the new kernel or the original one.

If you can boot properly with the new one and have no reason to leave the old one, you can remove the option by editing your grub.conf file and, if you want to completely eliminate the old kernel, delete it from your /boot directory.

Have fun!

I'm very new with linux how hard is that to do?
Simply..delete a file called vmlinuz<kerenl_verions>...that will be in your /boot directory.

But you need not to do so..Let it be like that..It might be useful sometime.

You can remove option of selecting older editing file..
