Full Version: More Than 4 Drives / Ultraata 133 Pci Card

I had installed an UltraATA 133 PCI card to expand my system from 2 hard drives & 2 CD's to 4 hard drives & 2 Cd's. When running Red Hat 9, the system found the card and the drives no problem.
I just upgraded to Red Hat ES 2 and now the card and the 2 additional drives are not found. There is no reference to them in dmesg (where before there was).

Not sure what to do??? Any ideas?

Is that ES2 or ES3?

(RHEL 2.1 is farily old ... RHEL 3 is new)

If you are using RHEL 3, install the kernel-unsupported package for your Kernel. It contains many Kernel Modules that you would expect to have in the standard kernel...probably including the driver for your controller card.

After installing the kernel-unsupported package, follow the instructions here to make a new initrd ....
