I just messing about in Suse8.1 for fun. I discovered Apache and got it loaded and am messing about with the config file. I`m new to Linux. I only have the IP address that my ISP (blueyonder)provide me with, I have no official domain name though I obviously have a path within blueyonders domain. Will I be able to serve web pages with what I`ve got or will I need a Domain Name registered with the domain name servers ? This is only for fun at the moment laugh.gif

You can have people just point to your IP address, sure. smile.gif

Might I suggest a nice service though? http://kicks-ass.net (DynDNS)

www.nic.tk offers free domains. Also have a look at www.dynip.com and www.dyndns.com

And I like to point out zoneedit.com as well ... they have a free dynamic dns service that I have been using for a couple years now.
