I am running on Redhat Linux 8 and currently experience the following problem spuratically for both KDE and gnome desktop environments...

Sometimes, when I choose to logout, the machine freezes. The screen goes black and nothing happens. I do not know which logs to search for the problem, or where to start. Then after bootup, it says that system has not been shut down properly and it would like to do a file integrity check, which means that the system never shuts down completely.

If anyone has a suggestion or has experienced this before, then please help --- could this be a hardware conflict?

Oh, we also use Cybex Commandre 4xp KV switches... whenever our machine stops on us, the capslock, numlock and scrolllock keys all start blinking (this could be a cybex control, or it may be linux - if you havnt seen or heard of this behavior, then dont worry about it - it's probably the kv trying to say it's not getting input... which could mean video card?)

Hi,

when you turn of you're system , before that press CTRL-ALT-F1 , login as root enter you're pasword...
and enter in console reboot , and write here what kind of errors is it showing during reboot,...

you can also type in console shutdown -h -t : now and see what happens then, and write it here, the error message...[possibly there are some error messages at shutdown or reboot]

Sincerely
