I am very new to Linux, ie I just installed it this week. I need help installing programs that were downlooaded in .tar.gz format. I know how to decompress them and everything, but I don't know how to actually install the program (Mozilla Firefox beta v0.8). Any help appreciated, as the install guide in the newbie section is pretty vague. I'm running SuSE Linux ver8
if you downloaded the firefox from the mozilla site (and not the source code), it doesn't need anything ... move it somewhere (i put it in /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox):

mv firefox /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox

Point your shortcut (launcher in linux) to /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/firefox and you are done.
