Hi

I have red hat 8.0 linux, and I wanted to know how to add a process to run at startup, for one specific user, not root. I know how to do it after logging in, but what I really wanted is to have it running BEFORE I even login. It's no linux base service, it's a program I have installed after linux installation (just to make things clearer). Is this possible? How do I do it? Thanks in advance!

edit /etc/rc.local and run your program using 'su' like so...

su fred -c '/home/fred/mycommand' &

that should do it
