Help I am a newbie to Linux, as an alternative to Windows I would like to install Linux Mandrake in a desktop enviroment using Virtual Machine buy Connectx ( sic ), I have installed VM onto my PC, do I now just install Mandrake into this folder ?, can someone help please.
I attempted a Linux install some time ago using a duel booting windows/Linux, BUT it went wrong and took weeks to regain my PC back to its normal running state.

Thanks in anticipation.

i had installed redhat on vmware and it worked quite successfully.but
i got bored with the slow speed of working linux and i finally removed it and again installed it on seperate before going further u should be ready for really slow speed.and a sticky mouse pointer will welcome u on slow linux.the procedure is simple just install the software
and create a virtual machine and be sure the the drive where u r installing
linux (running windows drive i hope) should have enough space.then power on the virtual machine and before switching on ur virtual machine
make sure to disable the autorun of cd on windows and then install ur
os on that virtual disk.there will be a bios with the vm thus don't worry
about boot problem.and don't configure x at this after entering
linux in text mode configure x.though this procedue is for vmware but
it is pretty same for ur asked vm also.but remember this is not a permanent
