Full Version: Lost Internet Access
Linuxhelp > Support > Technical Support
I recently updated my kernel on my Debian 3.0r2 machine from the default to 2.6.1. Everything seemed to be running smoothly until I tried accessing the internet. Apparently, in my configuration, I killed my internet access. I would like some advice on how I may alleviate my situation either by recompiling the kernel or changing some settings. I have a P3 450mhz PC with a Linksys Etherfast PCI nic. Any assistance would be much appreciated.
Are you using woody, sarge, or sid updates for your system ... IE are you pointing to:

in your /etc/apt/sources.list file?
Try restarting the network connection:

/etc/init.d/networking restart

/etc/init.d/networking stop
/etc/init.d/networking start

See if there are any messages in your /var/log/messages about eth0 and do the command:

dmesg | less

and check for info about eth0
