I'm a complete novice at Linux, so this question might be obvious, but here goes:

I've got a dodgy cd-rom drive and want to install Mandrake from my hard drive. I had a look at the installation notes on the cd and gave rawrite a bash with no joy.

Can some nice person please explain step by step (ie. for an idiot like me) how to do this?

Where do I copy the cd to? What do I type at the installation prompt?

Try that first and look it over

I also suggest searching Google for

"mandrake install from hard drive"

That should yield more help
