Full Version: 64 Bit Help?
Linuxhelp > Support > Technical Support
I have recently aquired a Sun netra Clone in a 1u case. The components are mostly SUN.
It runs and installs Solaris 7 no problem, however Solaris 8 and 9 do not work at all.
Which version of Linux should I be looking at? I have tried 6.4 Redhat 64bit and the system stalls during hte HDD format sequence. Should I be looking lower level? BIOS upgrade? etc?
If its 64bit system shouldnt a 64 bit Operating System be supported? Or is this typical to have a probelm if its SUN's proprietary hardware?

Multiple 300mhz UltraSparc 2i's @ 300Mhz
512mb ram
IDE and SCSI compatible, have not tried SCSI drives yet.
PS/2 Peripheral plugs
Redundant power supplies.

Thank you
you want to use a version of software specifically for sparc.

Mandrake has a 7.1 for sparc ... redhat a 6.2 for sparc ... debain a version of woody for sparc ... and gentoo has a sparc version they say is experimental.

Look at UltraLinux.
