Full Version: Can't Run Program (eclipse)
Linuxhelp > Support > Technical Support

I'm using Suse Linux 9.0
I installed the Java SDK and downloaded and unpacked eclipse into opt/eclipse
Eclipse has an executable "eclipse", but when I click on it in Conqueror, I get an error message "couldn't find program "eclipse"" and if I try running it from the shell it tells me "no such file or directory" even though I'm in the opt/eclipse directory.

I'm a newbie to linux, but apparently (after reading many web-pages) simply typing the executable from it's directory should be sufficient to run it... I don't know what's going on.

Any help is appreciated.
Check the permissions on the file and current working directory. If they are OK, when you run it from the command ine, try using a ./ in front of the executable.
Thanks for your reply.

I already tried with ./eclipse, but was bombarded with error messages. I found the problem though and got it working.

The problem is, that Konquerors built in zip has a bug and it screwed up some files. I unzipped it manually via console and got it working.

Thanks anyhow.
