Full Version: Mkisofs Ok, Cannot Cdrecord

The following is a copy of commands as I tried copying to Memorex cdrw 4x.
I am new to cdrw, and could not get it to work with KONCD 1.1
with RH8 so I tried at command line. My mkisofs image is ok as
I tried a copy from /dev/loop to confirm, and it looks as if the Samsung SW216 16/10/32
is recognized, and "scsi-ide" as well.

Below is :
1) attempt 1 to cdrw at command line but
after numerous with KONCD with same disc.

2) attempt 2 on new cdrw with --dummy option and 16 speed

I also tried to "Blank cdrw" but obviosly don't know what i'm doing
there and decided to ask the "Pros"

I don't think the speed is a problem as cdrw will default anyway, however I see
an instant IO error at CDRECORD.

Can someone help me with this situation which I would think is a no-brainer?
Also: I had software issues with this in "Windoze" but was discovering Linux
anyway.

(I deleted Samsung identifications on second pasting to save space below).

I don't see anything wrong with your commands ... If I use linux to record a CD, I normally build the ISO and pipe it to cdrecord like this (in this example I have a directory inside my current directory called Disk1 that I want to write as an ISO image)...

mkisofs -r Disk1 | cdrecord -v dev=0,0,0 speed=4 -

You might try that if you have the files also still on your drive.
