Full Version: Cant Mount A Cd
Linuxhelp > Support > Technical Support
I cant mount my cd drive i get the error mount"Not a dir" (dir is abreviated). Do i need drivers? or what
How are you trying to mount it....
you probably need to create a directory to mount it to....

%mkdir /mnt/cdrom

for example. You can mount it anywhere you want, its just that /mnt/cdrom kind of makes sense.

then try

%mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom

your cdrom device may not necessarily be /dev/cdrom. To eject you must unmount it using 'umount' instead of mount.

depending on what distribution you have theres probably a device manager in system tools or somehting like that that shows what devices are mounted and allows you to mount/unmount them there instead of the command line
the device manger wont work when mounting i get the same error mount:Not a Dir" but /mnt/cdrom is there
