Hey, im new to the forums so be nice wink.gif

But basically wen i connect to a server, it want me to identify with nickserv, so i: /nickserv IDENTIFY <password>
but BitchX sez that nickserv is not a valid command. does any1 know how to identify?

Thank you
Corey
Well, on most IRC networks, you should be able to msg the nickserv bot:

QUOTE
/msg nickserv identify <password>

However, I know on some networks (dalnet being one if i remember correctly), you have to use the /nickserv command. Dalnet (and possibly others) allow you to use a different format if you're using something other then mIRC. I believe it's something like this:

QUOTE
/msg nickserv@dal.net identify <password>

Your best bet is to join the IRC server, and check there MOTD for their official help channel, and ask someone in there.

Did you install the RPM/Deb or compile it from source?

By default it doesnt reconize /nickserv and /chanserv as commands.

You can get the tarball from ftp://ftp.bitchx.com/pub/BitchX/source/

If you compile it from source you can edit the include/config.h file after you run ./configure and change this line:

#undef WANT_CHAN_NICK_SERV /* do we want to include some chan/nick/oper server commands */

To

#define WANT_CHAN_NICK_SERV /* do we want to include some chan/nick/oper server commands */
