Hi there people
After installing the latest version of redhat linux everything is fine apart from when i do anything that requires 3d graphics, example:when playing stardard games like "TUX RACER" the frame rate is very very poor i mean about 4 frames per second, i have a radeon 9000pro graphics card and it has detected it ok but as a 9000 instead of a pro should this make any difference? or is this a driver issue as im only using the standard linux driver when i installed linux? im fairly new to linux so any help would be appreciated

I know nothing about ATi's graphics products because i'm an nVidia user, but it sounds like you don't have the hardware accelerated drivers install.
After searching the ATi website, I came accross a couple of links that you may want to check out and read up on:
The Radeon 9000 Catalyst driversInstallation tipsBefore downloading, make sure you know what version of XFree86 your running, you can find this out by opening up a terminal emulator (konsole, xterm, eterm, etc.) and type "XFree86 -version" and seeing what it spits back out.

I think duende is correct ... I have had to use the proprietary drivers for both nvidia and ati to properly support glx and/or dri.
For reference in future purchases, NVIDIA provides linux drivers that will build on your system reguardless of your gcc/libc/glibc/XFree86/kernel version combination and ATI provides an RPM that only works with specific combinations.
I would recommend NVIDIA cards for Linux only PC's right now...
