Full Version: Mandrake 9.1 Command Prompt Jail
Linuxhelp > Support > Technical Support
Just installed Mandrake 9.1 and all the patches.
There is no "shut down" only a "log out". OK, I did that.
Now I'm at the command prompt. It's asking for 'login' and 'password'.
Ok, did that, it took.
How do I get out of the Command Prompt (black screen) and back to the Mandrake GUI? Typed "help" and saw a lot of help commands, but no:
start, or exit, or begin, etc.
Also tried ctrl-alt-F7 (from what I learned about Red Hat). No Joy.
Thanks in advance.
startx will start the GUI after a login is done.

gdm (for gnome) or kdm (for KDE) will also restart your Display Manager.

I would restart the PC after the updates, by logging to the command prompt and typing shutdown -r -y 0
