Full Version: Network Connection - Ctc0 Problems
Linuxhelp > Support > Technical Support
I am currently having problems connecting my machine to my university network. When I boot up, the messages in the network section say:

lo - done
ctc0 - failed
ppp - manual

when all is loaded, I try to get smbclient to connect to the network (as my neighbour next door using mandrake does) and I get 'not enough \ characters in service'

I guess that ctc0 is the problem, but I have no idea how to fix it sad.gif I have tried installing all the network components from my install CDs, but nothing changes.

I'm currently running SuSE 8.2 pro with KDE 3.1 on a amd k62-500/384mb ram/20gb HDD (half of which is win98). Linux has recognised my network card.

If anyone could shed any light on this I'd be most grateful!

unless you have an IBM S/390, there should be nothing trying to start as ctc0 ... the network device you need is eth0, not ctc0....

I would try the install again...
Thanks very much! smile.gif
