Hi,
I have a NFS file service on 192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0 and want the NFS mounts to be visible to machines on 172.168.0.0/255.255.255.0.

I have tried the following formats with no success.

/sys_data/prod 192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0 172.16.0.0/255.255.255.0(rw,sync)

/sys_data/prod 192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0,172.16.0.0/255.255.255.0(rw,sync)

/sys_data/prod 192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0172.16.0.0/255.255.255.0(rw,sync)

I can not find any documentation on the net that talks about this type of configuration.

Any help would be great :)

Thanks,
Scott

I think the answer would be this (all in one line)

/sys_data/prod 192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0(rw,sync) 172.16.0.0/255.255.255.0(rw,sync)

You would need to have a router involved so that the 172.16.0 network can see the 192.168.0 network ... BTW, do you mean 172.16.0.xxx (a private IP) or 172.168.0.xxx (a network owned by AOL)?

After you try the above in /etc/exports, use the command (and after restarting nfs):

showmount -e

from the server to see the exports and the permissions....

Thanks for the feed back. This is for two private networks behind firewalls, no AOL.

The simple solution that hit me after asking was to configure two lines. It turns out, NFS is start enough to take 172.16.0.xxx and 192.168.0.xxx configuration and match it to the requesting machines IP address.

Example:
/sys_data/prod 192.168.0.xxx/255.255.255.0(rw,sync)
/sys_data/prod 172.16.0.xxx/255.255.255.0(rw,sync)
