How come when I use linuxconf in RedHat 7.1 I can't seem to save changes to user accounts. For example, if I add a full name to a login name, or grant the user administrative privileges (like the ability to run linuxconf or have root privilege). I make the changes. I accept them. There didn't seem to be any errors. Then when I go back to look, the changes aren't there.

I've never been able to get it to work.

Any suggestions?

I have a similar problem with the "setup" utility when making changes to the network settings. I ended up figuring out that /etc/sysconfig had the files I needed to edit to make my changes.

You may be better off trying to find out how to make these kind of changes without using linuxconf, since it is discontinued in later versions of RedHat.

Maybe someone can post some alternitive methods to giving users admin privileges.
