Full Version: Internal Zip Drive Problem With Mandrake 9.1
Linuxhelp > Support > Technical Support
Hi everyone

I've just installed Mandrake 9.1 on a Dell dual processor machine. Everything seemed to go fine - a zip icon appears in Gnome and I can see the zip drive in the Control Center. However, attempts to access the internal zip drive lead to freezing. I click on the zip icon and the Window opens (with message 'Sorry couldn;t display all items...'). Then I put the zip drive in and the green light goes on. The symbol in the window also rotates. This carries on for about a minute then the machine freezes completely and I have to switch it off. The disk works fine with Windows.

My fstab line looks like this
none /mnt/zip supermount dev=/dev/sda4,fs=auto,--,iocharset=iso8859-15,sync,codepage=850,umask=0 0 0

In Control Center I have the following
Mount Point /mnt/zip
Device: sda4
Type: auto
Options: supermount,iocharset=iso8859-15,sync,codepage=850,umask=0

Thanks for your help
Head to and read up on setting up Zip drive. I'm guessing it's just a wrong link or IRQ conflict. Some distros don't do the finishing touch and can't even mount a cd.
