I've just installed Red Hat 9. However I can't boot into graphical mode as my nvidia Geforce FX 5600 video card isnt supported. I downloaded the appropriate driver from nvidia and burnt it to CD-R in windows, then tried to mount the CD drive in linux using mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom. An error message comes up saying there is no media. I change directory to /mnt/cdrom and sure enough, nothing....is there a solution?

Yor CD could be bad, can you read the disk on your other system?

Might your linux box may have an older CDROM that is unable to read this burnt disk?

Yeah windows can read the cd
The drive that I'm trying to access is the same drive that burned the disk and I just bought it new.

if you are using a burner as your cdrom
i dont think you link /dev/cdrom to /mnt/cdrom

its something else...but im not exactly sure...because a cd burner in linux is treated as a scsi device...
even though its IDE
