Full Version: Using Custom Kernel On Another Machine

I have two identical machines -- everything is the same and they both have RH9.0 installed. I rebuilt the kernel to add a module I have been working on. Everything seems fine on my machine running the new kernel. To get the same modified kernel on the other machine can I just copy over the modified vmlinuz and system.map files from my machine? I am using grub so I assume I would need to add this version to grub.

Thanks, sorry if this is a dumb question,

you also need to copy the modules directory ... and if you have an initrd image you also need to copy that.

You will also need to put the required information in the /boot/grub/menu.lst file on the new machine.

The modules directory is at:

/lib/modules/kernel_name
