Full Version: Could Not Uncompress Second Stage Ramdisk

the problem is i am trying to install mandrake linux 9.1 without any success.
the system keep prompting me with the following message and i am totally newbie to Linux,the message on screen as follow
could not uncompress second stage Ramdisk, this is probably hardware error while reading he data. this is maybe caused by a hardware failure or linux debug
have carried out the following
replaced the graphic card
replaced the ram
pc specifications as follow
P4, Nivida 128 MB graphics card, Ram 256 DDR, harddrive seagate 120 GB, the pc is practically two days old
any advise onhow to tackle this problem would apppreciate it

Is it possible that the CDROM can not read the meida? or the meida is bad?

Sill, could the meida itself be bad? Just a thought.

i doubt it very much, the cd rom was purchased 2 days ago and the mandrake cd purchased from amazon a week ago.
it has to be someting in the Bios need to disable, but what it is , thats the question.
