Full Version: Configure A Domain With A Dynamic Ip
Linuxhelp > Support > Technical Support
.:Tom:.
Hi! Sorry for my language. sad.gif In advance! biggrin.gif

This is my situation:
I have a DSL connection with a dynamic IP and I want to host na www, mail, ftp etc server. I already made an account on www.no-ip.com and installed the daemon. It works fine, but not as I want it tongue.gif .

Let's say, that no-ip translates the IP in mydomain.sytes.net, wich is my Slack9 server (called 'slak'). I would like to run a little domain on my own, that looks like this:

- www.mydomain... on slak
- ftp.mydomain... on slak
- whatever.mydomain... on slak

See the point? mydomain.sytes.net points to slak. But how to configure BIND to reslove www.mydomain.sytes.net to point to the same machine?

Is there someone familiar with DNS, that can help me out? I read the DNS-howto, messed around with config files... and nothing worked.

Here are the configs I worte:

#### HOSTNAME ####
slak.mydomain.sytes.net

#### hosts ####
127.0.0.1 localhost
10.10.10.1 slak.mydomain.sytes.net lisa

domain mydomain.sytes.net
nameserver 127.0.0.1

### named.conf ####

You would create CNAME's in the zone file for yourdomain.com

www IN CNAME mydomain.sytes.net.
mail IN CNAME mydomain.sytes.net.
ftp IN CNAME mydomain.sytes.net.

and so on.
