I am new to this version of Linux (Enterprise ES) but have used a previous version. There are a couple of things different but I'm still a newbie and need help pls.

I am trying to FTP some large files from another server to a laptop. I need some help with going about doing this please. I remember a way to start vsftpd from the previous Linux Version but can't find it or any other FTP commands on this one.

If the server's Ip is 1.1.1.1 in the Oracle directory and the laptop is 1.1.1.2 in the Oracle directory, how do I get those large files from 1 to 2?
Joey
You'll want to check what FTP packages you have installed. Try:

rpm -qa |grep ftp

If it comes back with nothing you probably dont have anything for FTP installed. If you have SSH installed you can always use SCP.

I tried that and it says I have gftp 2.0.8-2, ncftp 3.0.3-6 and ftp 0.17-12.1.1.

Now how do I activate any of these programs????!?!?!?!?!?
Joey
Those are all ftp clients not servers. You will have to download/install/configure an ftp server
