I downloaded the Ubuntu installation file, but my Compaq is old and has WIN98 and can't boot from a CD. The Bios is not able to select alternative boot drives. I tried opening the iso file, but WIN98 apparently doesn't have any programs that can read the iso file. How do I install Ubuntu without a CD? I can copy it to my hard drive, but where do I go from there? Thanks.

Must be a really old computer if it can't boot from CD. Hopefully this computer has a floppy drive. plop is a boot manager that can run off a floppy that can boot a CD.
