I am totally new to Linux and have a laptop I want to totally dedicate to learning Linux. I have heard that there are compatibility issues with certain distributions for AMD/ATI machines. Basically I am looking for an easy distribution that comes with graphics/desktop environment that is compatible with my hardware. Toshiba Satellite A215-S6816, AMD Turion 64x2 TL-64 Processor, ATI Radeon HD2400 Graphics card. Someone please help me find a distro that will work on this machine. I tried Kumbuntu 10.10 and failed due to graphics driver issues. Thanks for any advice!

Go for the latest versions. Ubuntu might be the easiest.
May I suggest trying out some Live CDs and pick your favourite to install. Go to www.distrowatch.com to see what is available.
