I run Suse Linux 10.3. It detects the soundcard and automatically installs it. It reports that everything is fine. But produces no sound. The soundcard is incorporated on the motherboard. I am at a loss as what settings or whatever to change. Any ideas? Please?

Knowing how to ask a question is half the battle. Without knowing anything about the hardware or the audio chipset or what you are trying to do it is impossible to provide any ideas or help.
Post the output of the command

Have you checked the audio mixer to see if the volume control is not muted and the levels are at least midscale?
