Whats this Lie-nix Thing?

I just got a laptop in the mail yesterday and it has linux on it.. when I went to turn it on it went through all the data pages. But then it gives me a prompt that says [root@localhost/]# and I have no idea what im supposed to type to get it to start up.. I will send the puter back if I have to but im hoping someone might know what I should do. Please help! and ty for your time. smile.gif

Ok so it it Linpus.
http://www.linpus.com/

The startx command is in the /usr/bin directory. Try
/usr/bin/startx

Post any errors.

it read sh: /usr/bin/startx no such file or directory
then when i typed it with spaces in between it read sh: /usr: is a directory
I went to that web site but couldnt figure out how to find what i needed since it hasnt even gone to the startup screen (desktop) would this be better if I gave you my im address?
