Whats this Lie-nix Thing?

I installed Frespire on a USB hard drive connected to my laptop with Windows XP OS but apparently did something wrong (I'm a newbie to linux). When my laptop boots up, it goes to GRUB and just stalls there. The only way I seem to be able to do anything is to have the freespire CD inserted on startup and follow whatever options it gives me. I've tried the f10 key on startup to try to change the Boot order with no success. What am I missing and how can I get back to an opening boot access to windows XP and the ability to switch to Linux Freespire when I want to?
