I'm really new. Just bought dell mini 9 with ubuntu 8.0.4. How do I check the network connection and DNS settings. I have a Airlink router (680w). I've called Dell. They say call Ubuntu. Ubuntu says call Airlink. Airlink can't spell Ubuntu and have no idea what I'm talking about. Am up to about 30 hrs trying and am getting frustrated. I know it's something simple, but what ............?
I really want to use this thing, but it's worthless as is. Any help is reallllly appreciated.

iwconfig is a console command. You run it from a virtual terminal window i.e xterm. There is typically an icon on the taskbar that looks like a monitor.
Selecting the icon will start xterm.

Can not provide specific information until we know what linux distribution and make/model of netbook
