I'm really new. Just bought dell mini 9 with ubuntu 8.0.4. How do I check the network connection and DNS settings. I have a Airlink router (680w). I've called Dell. They say call Ubuntu. Ubuntu says call Airlink. Airlink can't spell Ubuntu and have no idea what I'm talking about. Am up to about 30 hrs trying and am getting frustrated. I know it's something simple, but what ............?
I really want to use this thing, but it's worthless as is. Any help is reallllly appreciated.

Not enough information provided. What have you tried for 30 hours. Does it work if you are wired?
Are you using WPA or WEP encryption? I would assume/hope that the netbook wireless is configured correctly.
iwlist and iwconfig are wireless command line tools.
