I got this guide (At bottom) :

The only problem is that there is no "slax-installer" on my desktop or in the systems folder.
Is there a command to bring it up in the shell.

This must get asked 100 times a day sorry. smile.gif

Im using slax 2.6

it took me a while to figure this one out as i am a total newbie...
but got it working!!!

okay, assuming you have a hard-drive you want to wipe everything
out and install slax on it.. follow here ...

1) boot up with the Slax cd
2) open terminal
3) type "sudo cfdisk /dev/hda"
4) still in cfdisk create a new partition out of the unpartitioned disk
space (primary / type Linux / as large as you want to have it) without
touching the other ones. set 'bootable' option.
5) still in cfdisk create a new partition out of the unpartitioned disk
space (logical / type swap / 512 MB should be more than enough)
set type to 'swap' type.
(when you hit 'type' a big list shows up.. hit enter to view page2 select swap type 82)
6) still in cfdisk write the changes for each of the partition.
7) exit cfdisk

you have created partitions for Slax to be installed.. next ...

create a filesystem on your new partition... by typing ...

mkfs /dev/hda

then mount the hard drive...

1. create a mount point by 'mkdir /mnt/hd1'
2. then type 'mount /dev/hda /mnt/hd1'

now you are ready to run the slax-installer found on your
desktop menu under 'system'... note that under the drop
down list 'Install SLAX to' your newly mounted hard drive hd1
will appear. click 'install ' and watch it finish it all in about
two minutes.

thats it... now you can boot from your hard drive without the Slax CD!
