Hello,
I'm doing a course in bioinformatics at the moment and I'm using Cygwin on my Windows 2000 pc to access the univeristy's Linux server. What I'd like help with is taking files that I've downloaded and stored on my pc and transferring them to the linux server. I don't know how to copy them across, can anyone help?
I'm not very good with computers; I only downloaded Cygwin a week ago but I'm trying to learn how to use it. I'm also trying to learn perl so that I can use it to do bioinformatics with. I'm finding it very difficult at the moment because I don't have any training in computing at all and the only thing I know how to work is Windows. If there are any bioinformaticians out there, I'd like to hear from you!
Thanks,
ejk8

OK, I worked out how to send files from cygwin to the university's server using the scp command (I think I understand scp now), it's just I don't know how to get the files on my pc to be stored in cygwin in the first place, that's the bit I'm having trouble with
