Hi ppl.
I am just new to linux and just installed it then wanted to install driver for my Nvidia fx5500. It was hard to learn things but I could install it. Now Linux cant see my Video Card and start in low resolution mode always. I try to run Nvidia X Server Settings but it says "You do not appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver. Please edit your X configuration file (just run `nvidia-xconfig` as root), and restart the X server. " So I do "nvidia-xconfig" and it says success. And need to restart. But after I restart it still say me to do nvidia-config. After a few searches I could understand my problem. My xorg.conf.failsafe configure files replaces with xorg.conf file configure and it doesnt even matter because X Server uses Falsafe one instead xorg.conf. Now I want X Server to run xorg.conf instead of xorg.conf.failsafe. (I tried to replace contents of files but failsafe does return to its default after reboot.) Any help would be usefull. |
