Hi.
I'm having problems in resolving machines names. I have just added my portable with RH9 in a network. Everything works with windows except my machine. I do not have access to the PDC or the BDC. There is no DNS server, just a WINS server. It works great with samba, i mean, samba can actually find the netbios names(IPīs) of all the machines in the network. Everything appart of that I cannot resolv any names(IPīs), except the ones I have in my /etc/hosts file. The bad thing is, that everyone is working with dhcp so the ip is dynamic and i cannot trust my /etc/hosts file. How can I possibily use the wins server or something to resolv the windows machines names? (i have the names, i just don't know the ip's, and so doesn't linux!) sad.gif
