Ok i have just purchased a server with Fedora Core 6 installed on it, the problem i have is i cannot connect to the darn thing lol

have tried putty which just timesout as does ftp and not sure how else to get through to it.

It has a fixed ip so connection shouldn't be an issue

can anyone help, i will answer questions to best of my knowledge

You will have to provide some more details.
Is this a computer in your own personnel possession?
Are you trying to connect via local LAN or internet?
Are the services running i.e sshd or vuftp (or whatever ftp daemon is installed)?
Is the firewall if running configured to allow the desired traffic?
If local LAN can you see the other computers from the server?

I managed to connect now thanks, what it boiled down to was that the hosts had done a clean install and a new ip was assigned which i didn't get til this morning.
