hello everyone. this is my 1st Linux experience....so pls dont laugh.
My question is, how do i install the RPM?
i am using Ubuntu 7.10

i typed this in the terminal:-
sudo apt-get install rpm

and this is what i got:-
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11 Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?

then i type this again:-
sudo apt-get install rpm

and the reply is:-
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package rpm is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source
E: Package rpm has no installation candidate

What should i do?

thank you in advanced
