I've installed and uninstalled tvtime on various ways and it doesn't work. It only blocks my computer without any single warning or error message
I'm using slackware 12.0 with kernel 2.6.23 (I've compiled it and computer works fine excepts tvtime) . What should I do?

If it is causing a proper lockup, then it would suggest a dodgy driver or even some dodgy hardware. Does the tuner work on other distros/OSes?

After the lock-up, can you press ctrl-alt-F1 to go to the console? If you start tvtime from a console(eg KDE's "konsole" program, by running "tvtime") do you get any errors there?

First of all thanks for willing to help.

It worked on Slack 11.0 without any single problem.
Even now tvtime-scanner works fine without any problems
I use KDE 3.5 and I start tvtime from its shell, and when I start tvtime it blocks everything, even keyboard so ctrl-alt-f1 cannot do anything. Caps for example do not function. I can watch tv with xawtv but I'd like to use tvtime because it is much better. To me it looks like some kernel problem(maybe I'm wrong). When I first start xawtv and then try tvtime my picture get frozen but sound is still working.

Hmm - Maybe try a different kernel or version of tvtime.

The fact that you can use it fine from another program does suggest that it is probably tvtime at fault - Or at least something that tvtime does but other tuners don't - Could be related to the graphics driver (video overlay?) or i suppose a bug in the tuner driver itself.

I guess if you were feeling brave you could try running a debugger on it and seeing where it hangs, that might point you in the right direction or allow you to file a bug report; short of that there is only guess work to go on.

I don't really know what to suggest
