hey guys, I have never realy played around with grub much but here is my problem.

I have 2 hard drives setup

hdd1 split in half part1 is storege, part 2 is freespire

hdd2 is vista

now my problem is this.

I had unbuntu installed where freespire is, I deleted that partition for a fresh install, but I wasnt thinking properly and this screwed with Grub, I couldnt access vista anymore computer would try and load grub and it screwed up because its not there.

now to fix this i had a computer cd laying around with bootable freespire on it, so I installed it ok fine grub works on bootup but windows is now nowhere to be found. Freespire kindly mounts that drive as winxp and everything is still there so how can I edit grub with the correct parameters to get vista to dual boot again.

thanks alot ppl smile.gif

My grub.conf looks like this:

title Fedora (
        root (hd0,0)
kernel /vmlinuz- ro root=LABEL=/ rhgb quiet
        initrd /initrd-
title Windows Vista
        rootnoverify (hd0,2)
        chainloader +1

You need to add something like
title Windows Vista
rootnoverify (hd1,0)
chainloader +1

Whre (hd1,0) is the disk that Vista is on - Assuming it is on the primary partition on the second disk, then that number should be ok. Try "man grub" for full info about how grub numbers disks.
